The defense had an unprecedented year giving up an amazing 139.4 yards and only 10.2 points per game. Only 4 teams rushed for over 100 yards against the 'CC D' while 5 teams were held to under 60 yards of total offense. Sr. DE Justin Duchien and Sr. DT Ryan Palmer were 1st Team defensive Lineman. Sr. MLB Ben Heidegger and Jr. OLB Daniel Kinney were dominant at their linebacker spots claiming 1st Team slots. Defensive backs Sr. Alex Cummings and So. Ben Joffer were recognized as 1st Team performers in the secondary. So. OLB Brandon Grissom earned 2nd Team honors while Jr. DE Mathew Bohn, Fr. CB Tyler Stickler and Jr. P Daniel Kinney found themselves on the Honorable Mention list. Offensively, the ‘Challenger Juggernaut’ tallied 451 total points. The 45.1-ppg was statistically the second best offensive season in school history, second only to last year’s state championship unit, which averaged 41.9-ppg. The offense was led by dual-threat running backs Sr. WB Ben Heidegger and Jr. WB Daniel Kinney, both of which garnered 1st Team honors. Sr. OT Jacob Ayala, along with fellow Sr. C Nick Zimmers were 1st Team offensive line. So. QB Colton Cochran and Sr. TE Justin Duchien were named to the 2nd Team. Also, Head Coach Andy Maurer was named Co-Coach Of The Year. |
